Classic Server Files

I am getting a server up and running for a group of friends as I am the "Computer Guy"... I have a couple of questions but first some back story.

From what I understand, spire has downloaded the latest peq files so, as is, my server would be more towards the updated stuff rather than classic. We really want something along the lines of a TLP server. A few of us played on "EQ Reborn" for a year which was great, but most did not get a chance to get a Guise or Rubicite Armor due to time limitations. We all played on live together within the first year of live, and would love to relive that era on our terms. So my questions are:

1. What would be better, the public login server, or a private login server? We wouldn't mind others playing on it, I just want to make it easy for all of us to play.

2. Is there someone that has the files done that would share with me that would revert the server to classic? I know it takes a butt load of work to get to that point, which is more than I can do at this point.


I would really like to chat with someone who has done a TLP server for some pointers. For now, I will continue my little project of getting the server up and running as public as is. I am close. It's on the server select screen now at least, just cannot get to a character create/select screen yet. Small steps...
