Default Advice for newbie?

Hi all,

I just installed EQ(trilogy, SoL, & PoP). Of course I updated after the install. I did change the eqhosts.txt, eqlsclient.ini, & manage to find a pre-June 22nd eqmain.dll. Now i am able to select a server but i keep getting 1017 errors. I believe this is still from patching.

Would i better off just reinstalling EQ and playing from the factor default files? (are there problems with the factory default files??) Or waiting till the login gets fixed?

I appreciate the feedback.
Thanks in advance

EQmain.dll is not some magic fix that people keep saying it is. It controls the login process, but in order to play all the exes and dlls need to be compatible with the server, so you need all of those from a friend or something in ordeer for it to work. And the install from the CD is too old to be compatible with any of the servers.

You are going to have to wait until that patch is fixed. The default factory files are WAY to old to play without patching.
