Question Buy the game.... AGAIN?!

I just wanted to voice my opinion that it is silly that I have to pay sony for yet another disk version to play on the emu. I have purchased the previous incarnations of all the expansions included in the titanium, and I dont see why it is necessary spend money on such a redundant purchase. Again, this is only my opinion so feel free to flame away. lol

You dont have to buy Ti. You can pay SOE /month fee and play all of the expansions you have currently...

But I WILL say this.. When you can code the entire server and keep it up to date so that all of the patches work with your client versions then you should complain.. Until then you should probably be greatful there is a free alternative.... I know I have appreciated all the devs have done for years now.

Seriously!

Sheesh.

I wouldn't want someone with that attitude on my server either. Nobody here (serverops or devs) owe you anything. Just about everyone here pays out of their pocket to make this thing work as a whole, and you're complaining about $20 because you think we owe YOU something on top of it?

Ummm no, we don't.

You're probably the same type of player that wouldn't donate to help pay the bills for a server that you DID like if you were playing here.

I second what others have said... you want a free ride? Ciode up your own EMU that works with your version of EQ, whatever it is.

i just wanted to add that you don't even have to pay 20 bucks.
i got my copy on ebay for much less.
so if there's anyone floating around here questioning whether or not they want to give sony that much more money, look around a bit and you'll find yourself a fair price.

(wonders why he wrote half a million lines of code over six years so people like that can play on servers without having to use Sony's client).

If anyone else, either fresh on the scene or older hands, feels the same way as the origional post: May I suggest doing a search of posts by Windcatcher and seeing if there is anything you can do to assist him in his efforts.

The best way to remove this restriction is already in your hands, you just need to move your fingers a bit more. Not all of us have the time to so the work that would assist him greatly, as alot of it does not require high end technical information so much as just plain old time itself to create the things needed.

Wind is doing very nice work, but there is only so much he can do given the time he has available to work on it. Everyone has a life they live. If you give just a few moments of yours to help someone else out, the returns on your efforts could be most benificial.

I, also, do not like the impact of the message the origional post was recieved. I truely do not post this as any sort of put down, but moreso as a reaction to the ideals behind it. This community thrives upon the assistance of many people working together to achieve a common goal, not a few select folks working on something with alot of management looking down upon the pace of their efforts.

If you see something that needs fixed, fix it. If you can't fix it, learn how to fix it. If you can't learn how to fix it, be patient until those who can fix it are able.

...and worth every penny! - oh it's free you say

Anyway I'm glad EQ is still around - these expansions breathe a little more life in a first gen MMORPG

Ebay prices range from $5.00 - $15.00. Not bad
