Default Operating System

Does EQEmu perform better or has EQEmu been tested with any one Windows Operating System over another?

I cant personally attest to anything other than windows standard server 2003

but I have used it on the original release, service pack 1, and service pack 2 none having any errors (when installed correctly) personally i think it boots the fastest on sp1 though.

there's my two cents

Yes..

I've tried running the emu server on a test enviornement on two identical machines, one with FC 6 Linux and the other with windows 2003 SB Server.

I think I've posted this somewhere else but basically, just with 8 boxes on each server (8 from wife's pc, 8 from mine.), the linux server maintained a very low load average, the windows server was idling around 40% cpu usage and very low mem available (like 32 mb out of 1 gig mem), the linux box was idling at 0.1 load average, meaning the cpu was fluxuating between 4% and 0% usage, and 732 MB of ram was available.

There is your Linux vs Windows comparason.
