Attempt to login to your database from either a cmd window (Windows) or a shell (linux)... ie

mysql [-h host] -u <user> -p<password> database

use the credentials you have in your config to fill in the blanks. Note there is no space between the -p and the password. If you use the -p and do not include the password it will prompt you.

Not on mysql. It's not necessary. Certainly you can use it but don't need to.

Usage: mysql [OPTIONS] [database]

Angus, are you trying to connect to your own server, or the public loginserver? If the public loginserver, which version of EQ are you using and have you setup a LoginServer account through the control panel on the website?

He's trying to login via the public loginserver, not run a server. According to the error he is getting, anyway.

You should try what Akyra said. That will be your best bet. Click on UserCP at the top of the forums. Or y'know, read the play guide. Either will help you get your account set up for use on the loginserver.
