Default Busted..?

Ok I have never actually logged into your guy's software yet, I have a few questions first. What are my chances of getting caught with this EQ Emu software by SOE and getting my account banned? Has this ever happened to anyone? And I see to start this up I need to mess with some EQ files, will this at all effect my game play with logging onto the servers provided by SOE? And also, I see that you need EQW (Everquest Windows i think) to use the emulator, is this against EQ policy? and could EQW get me banned? Thank you in advance for any follow-ups to my questions! And good luck hunting!

You arent even required to run eqw to connect. There is another way listed in the readme.

If you hit the everquest icon on your desktop, the patcher overwrites the eqhost file with the one for verant's servers, so that fixes the one and only file that was changed, which is nothing more than a text file, so I wouldnt personally consider it property of sony.

If you use eqw on a live eq server, that's your own peroggative, has nothing to do with the emulator, and I have no idea what sony's policy on that is these days.

Yah, using the Emulator in no way contradicts(sp?) to EQ's EULA.

Actually, to my understanding the whole project is within terms of legalness. So your safe as far as I know.

I would'nt consider EQW to be a third party program, since itself is used to RUN Everquest, so you should be safe there.

They won't track you down for using EQemu to take a break from EQlive, just don't blabber it around publically and expect no consequences.

There is a section in the EULA about emulators. BUT this only applies if you /tell a GM on EQlive with something to the effect of "Hey mr GM... I use EQ emulators all the time and I want you to ban my account."

There is no way for verant/sony to find out you used an emulator (or sold items from EQ live, ect) UNLESS you brag about it in-game (thay could be watching, or could be reading logs), OR say something about it in a public place (chat room/forum) and use your EQlive name or announce your server, character, ect...

Default i was worried at first, until i looked at what eqemu does

If you look at what you need to do to "use" eqemu, you are really doing just about nothing. You don't need to load ANYTHING on your computer. If you want to use it the way I do, you just go into one of your text files and change some lines, which points you to where some other people have set up servers. you are doing nothhing different than what you'd do if you wanted to change some of your character config files (to turnoff armor models for instance)- in fact, it is doing less than what Verant encourages people to do when it comes to the new UI files (they are files you copy into your EQ directory).

If your really paranoid, just delete that file txt before trying to play on the regular servers again and it will repatch it for you, and they could never know.

As for EQW, for the last 6 months everyone i play with has been laughing at me for NOT using it. Pretty much everyone in any high level guild has it. I didn't because i usually have bad luck (with bugs) with such things, but this week I got it to help EQemu run easier (only for the login) and WOW! my computer runs everquest 10 faster with EQW than without it- no idea why, but it helps with the regular servers as well. I kick myself for not getting it sooner like everyone said. And its not like its some big program, its a measly little file that took 2 minutes to download on my crappy connection.
