Default Datarate.txt

I was curious if the Datarate.txt is set to 10.0 because then it will use the 10 mb/s rate for lan servers. But i was just mainly curious if you lan is setup up to 100 mb/s as well as 10 mb/s if you change it to 100.0 on the datarate section will it make the game connection run faster, or is it just more bandwith than needed, or am i just an idiot and the whole 10.0 is basically saying use the max bandwith. Just curious.

Side question:
to use EqEMU 0.4.5 what is the latest EQLive patch can you get before it isn't compatible with EqEMU. I thought we had to wait till 0.5.0, but i've been reading many recent posts about people downloading the eqlive patch n' such and i was just curious if i was missing something. I basically Setup my lan server, i can connect and i see the Server but its only a tease because when i connect of course i have a different version. Thanks

Ps
If any of my questions are just dumb questions, just make sure you response starts out with... Dear Idiot Noob,
Thanks in advance

I believe typing #datarate <number> in game will raise/lower your datarate. Dunno if it makes it run faster or just uses up more bandwith....*shrug*. About the 0.4.4 servers, the latest patch you can use is the october of 2003 one (Not sure of exact date). If you don't have that, you'll have to wait for 0.5.0 servers to come out.

Datarate fluctuates as per the size of your pipe. If you have a T1 connection (like myself) you would be best off at the 10.0 rate level. However if you are just a cable or DSL user, the maximum useage would probably be around 7.5-8.0. Note that you could set it higher, but it would not increase performance at all unless you upgraded your connection.

and for the record i believe Datarate only goes to 10, so you couldn't set it for 100 as the original poster suggested.

To de mistify datarate, that number translates directly to kbps and is higly irrelevent because you can't controll what happens to the data between leaving the server and it getting to the client ;)
