Crashing to desk top before character selection screen.

Just before I'm loading, it says that eqgame.exe has caused an invalid page default.
I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong, i've read through the read me, etc.
I am using EQW.
The Exact Error = eqgame.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Then Advanced =AppName: eqgame.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: eqgfx_dx8.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0006719e

Sorry to sound like a newbie, that's all I know.

Are you using 16 bit color mode for your desktop?
