Heh, Amra. I certainly was not directing my observations towards you, specifically. I was being vague, and general. And yes, one more thing you do need as a successful server is a community of supporters. Be that people simply willing to play and call your server "home", or people hell bent on "developing" something. Me, I prefer good ol stock EQ, that me and my fellows from our old server can bounce around on when the occasion strikes us.

I guess that's another point... having lofty goals does imply you have lofty time to spend on the project. I am way too simple for that, and I think most others are as well, which is why their servers last 2 weeks (that, and they get a D on their report card for spending so much time 'developing' and mom takes their computer away ~snicker~)

edit: let me add another observation while I am on a rant... the problem isn't the admins who decide one day they are out of interest or time- it's the players who chose a particular server and planned to live out their days there, then usually -=poof=-, everything is gone with or without an explanation. That's the part that pisses me off about people experimenting with public server emulation. The players get disenchanted, don't trust anyone, and getting players on your server becomes a task not worth your time (generally speaking)
