Starting up, have some questions

I decided to try this thing out tonight, but i am having difficulty figuring out how to get started, and what to download, currently i loaded everquest on my computer tonight, but did not patch it up. I then downloaded the eqmu patcher. I am not sure what to do now, if anyone could enlighten me on what to do from here on out I would greatly appreciate it, thanks much
