Default How Sony failed to get me back as a customer today. ;(

Well I don't know how many of you (if any) have also recieved this offer; you see, I recieved an email from Sony some days ago that my account - which I had closed about three or four months ago - has been reenabled for 14 days. Free of charge! So they are giving me a chance to reconcider my earlier decision as it would seem.

As I had a free day today, I decided to install all the EQ CDs again and restore my old UI & character settings. Ah and there's always the patch after a fresh install which takes about 50 minutes with my connection. All this took me about three hours. So I sat there and decided to try my cleric Medimai first, since she is the lowest of my chars and deaths wouldn't matter all that much.

So I log on with her and find myself in DSP . I start running around on a search for a group and actually find a nice one as I pass ME. So I'm sitting there and enjoying myself enormously while healing and buffing all those brave slashers and keen fizzlers. After 6 dead Tribals there comes our first train: three tribals, one blood wolf and one lightcrawler. We fought bravely, the steel-packed meeleeists refused to abandon camp in a humiliating display of cowardness and so we all stayed and struggled. But eventually we were overpowered and thus had no other choice but to run for the zone. My Medimai was at 20pct health as the zone which promised salvation came into view. Right at this very moment however I suddenly found myself blinded. So I continued running in a desperate attempt to somehow reach the zone. I did not make it and respawned at the NL zone. I rushed back to where I thought I died (the ME zone border) and went to search for my corpse. Meanwhile my comrades had apparently already looked everywhere in the vincinity for my body; with no sign of it. After I had looked around myself, I decided to take a brief look into the ME zone itself. So I ran into the border and - poof - I was disconnected from the server. At this point I felt frustrated enough to uninstall EQ again.

Now ppl might say that I'm impatient and they'd have a point. However after three hours of installing, configuring, patching and configuring again, I expected somewhat more than 8 minutes of actual playing before dying (which isn't Sony's fault of course), having my corpse disappearing and being disconnected from the server (which in turn I _do_ blame Sony for).

Flame me if you want. Or post your sympathy. Or post similar/opposite experiences. I'd be interested in any of that... I did already share my 2 cp.
