Xabob, you need to revise that tutorial.
- Some links aren't existing anymore, common problem when you link to forum posts because they disappear or change pretty often.
- Some of your answers aren't totally right :
-> 1017 error, doesn't all the time mean you need to patch
-> Unpatching is possible if you're backing up your hard disks and you could also advise people to duplicate their directories.
-> GW and Raid addicts servers...
-> You can host your own server for free, if you keep it private

We could use a newbie guide of that kind, but it would have to be extremly complete and accurate. We don't need 3 different guides that say the same things
ps : I saw that your guide is 7 monthes old, i prefered to comment it instead of deleting it

Mhhh, you follow a guide outdated in a section called "Need to work"
And you don't understand why this not work ? that very strange is'nt it ?

I disagree about needing a shit load of time and money to setup a server.

First time I set one up almost a year ago took about 1 month to perfect.

I am right now getting my server back online... started Friday, should be up by next Friday.

I only needed to buy my server computer (yeah it was expensive but not a shit load)

Anyhow, I just strongly disagree about the time and money part, because it is not that hard to do once you have done it once already, but I find it tricky finding a build that works... got a new laptop recently and all of my compilers were on old one.

=) Everquest is not too hard to setup a server for... although I am running into a small problem ATM.
