A few qestions:

What do you mean by:

made my dns the worldaddress
world address?

What kinda of internet do you have? ADSL or cable?
This really doesnt matter Becuase ADSL uses high frequencys and a 56k modem will only connect using the low high frequencys.

If you havea cable modem i have no idea how you were able to connect it to the wall and the PC(cable uses a co-ax cable)

If you use a router did you the forward all of the ports it need to connect on.

sence you said you were able to connect to other people's servers but you were not able to connect to your server that tells me that it could be your router.

Also does you server say locked or up?
If it says locked the IPs arent set right .

Theres really alot it could and could not be to fix this it coud be really easy or hard. Or If you give the wrong info it could mess it more.

take some screen shots of your world.exe when you try connect to it. See what error pops up.,

This is where alittle more info would help I would be able to tell you whats wrong with it. amd not try to secant guess it.
