ya lol. so i got the game but i cant seem to get this stupid server up and running. i got my wow server up with little issues but i downloaded the things from the page that tells the downloads you need but i got stuck and am really pissed off. first i dont have db.ini in my eqemu folder. searched everywhere for it. all the contents from the rar that are supposed to be there are there, but cant find the stupid db.ini. i even searched the whole folder with windows looking for *.ini and came up with log or something. but not that. my loginserver.ini has extra things taht arent in the picture (i.e. login server 2, and login port 2. not sure waht to do about that).

INSERT INTO variables (varname, value, information) VALUES ('LoginType', 'Minilogin', 'Set this to Minilogin to login using a minilogin server ');
alter table account add minilogin_ip varchar(32) not null;

that tells me there isnt a mysql.variable.something and give me an error. i forget the stupid number. its not the 1017 tho, it was like 1134 or something like that.

at the end it says something about the shortcut that you added patchme too. didnt see that in the steps (havent actually gotten that far because of the stupid crap thats goin wrong before that point)...

on top of all of that now i cant delete that stupid crap (mysql) from my computer so i can just try again from fricken scratch. is there a repack or something where this crap is mostly done for you???? just wondering.

is there a better (more comprehensive) guide for setting this thing up. this doesnt seem complete or inline with the crap that is downloaded with it, seeing how im missing files that are supposed to be there.

i have a decent understanding of all this crap. got other ones working before. but i just cant get this crap workign and itl piss me off until i can. i feel like im being defeated by some stupid database program shit...aaaahhhhhhh

any help please...or a better guide, more step by step. thanks

ya i kno, sorry just got a little frustrated last night. trying to get the thing up and running. my girlfriend wanted to play the game and was getting all excited and im trying to get it working only to find that i cant find that file. quite frustrating, not only cuz its not the most basic thing to do, but then you have pressure from someone who just wants something and doesnt realize what it takes to make it work, and u just want to please them.

ya i know there are several guides, im just not sure which one is the most comprehensive and which ones to use. they use different versions of the same thing, so im not sure which is the best to go with or the most comprehensive. im gonna try again this afternoon so if you guys could point me to which individual guide worked (or worked best) for you that would be great, thanks.

ok so i was looking around and i think i found what i needed lol. i was trying to use an old version of all the db's and guide. didnt think about the 0.7.0 thing. so when i get home ill try to get it up and running. i think i should be able to handle it now (i was getting caught up on things that version didnt have...cuz the new ones dont have the login.ini or whatever it is so no wonder why it wasnt there). next time i will look and check compatablility issues with everything im using. i just assumed it would work cuz thats the first main guide i had found. but with some digging at the lower part of one of the pages i found one for what i needed i believe. so ill try it when i get home after my classes. woot! get to look at computer parts later lol (for A+ cert...my only class left today)...well ill keep you guys informed. thanks for the look it up approach, i needed that. its been a while (my older cousin used to do that all the time when i was a kid, tell me to go look it up any time i had an issue or wanted to know something...gotta say it helped alot so far in life. if only i could remember to use it more often instead of just asking how and why when i get frustrated. so sorry guys, and thanks for knocking me back)

i do have one more question tho, been looking online all over the place but cant find a definite answer...is there a working eq2 emu out yet? googling comes up with a lot of crap, mostly eq1 stuff...any ideas?

Check the off-topic forum here, there's a few posts about EQ2 emulators. But in short, I do not think the project is active - or public, either way. Not sure, since I am not ready to take that leap yet.
