Yes my file looks like this. (I copy and pasted this directly from my eqhost.txt file. I'm still getting this message when I try to log in.

Error 1010: No host was found!
Check that the file EQHOST.TXT exists in the Everquest directory.

Yes, the information provided is a direct *paste* from my eqhost.txt file. If the one provided is in error then I could fix. The guide I've been using from this website is very thorough, but I'm not sure how to go about troubleshooting this. Could it be a firewall thing?

From what I've read in the guide there is no where that I actually type eqhost... There is an eqhost.txt file, but that one is already imbedded in the Eq directory so... Is "eqost or eqhos" just an example, or is there something that the guide is missing?

What he asked was if you had it named wrong and those were examples of what he has seen.

eqhost.txt should be in your eq folder. That's is where it is read from.

make sure it's not in there as eqhost.txt.txt

Load it up in notepad and do a saveas and change it from txt type to allfiles type before saving it again.

Ok I just did a search on my computer and found that in that location

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

I have 6 files. None of them say eqhost.txt ... and the instructions I downloaded from this website don't say anything about placing an eqhost.txt file there. So should I create one there? And how do I do that? Create a text file that says eqhost.txt?

Hosts, Hosts.msn, Imhosts.sam, networks, protocal, services

These are the six that are currently in there. Thanks again for your help!!

My Bad, I edited the post as you were reading it... Just make sure it doesn't have a double extension on the file.

Also, did you try using the ipaddress instead of the url

Host=64.251.21.39:5998
