Sounds like with the current version of the emulator, you probably have to have a server running on Linux to be able to use the IP Limiter without risking running into the player ghosting issue causing players issues with logging in.

I would recommend disabling that rule for now until you can switch to Linux. Either that, or you could try something like my zone resetter script (in the custom quests section) to reset zones on a timer, which will clear out any player ghosts.

Or, if someone could look at the IP limiting code and make sure that it will not start doing the limiting checks until after a player is logging in a character (once the player starts logging in the same character from character select, it should boot the ghost out). If it did the check after it booted the character out, it should clear up this issue. But, that might require considerable changes to the IP Limiting code.

Yeah, finding that out. It doesn't seem to play nicely with players who crash or lag out. And the ghosting issue (and EQEmu in general) don't seem to play well with Windows servers, which is the only option right now.

They'd typically be kicked when they come back into the world, but the IP limiting is forcing that to be an issue.
