You can use zone.exe in your bat file like this:
start zone.exe kael

The fact that it seems to hang when trying to connect to MySql, makes me think that there is an issue with logging into the database.

Look in your eqemu logs folder for anything else with the same timestamp as the world_debug file. Could be more info in there.

Well, first of all here are my error logs from trying to launch zone.exe:

eqemu_debug_zone:
Code:
[10.01. - 00:37:57] [ZONE__INIT] Loading server configuration..
[10.01. - 00:37:57] [ZONE__INIT] Log settings loaded from log.ini
[10.01. - 00:37:57] [ZONE__INIT] Connecting to MySQL...
[10.01. - 00:39:57] [ZONE__INIT_ERR] Cannot continue without a database connection.
eqemu_error_zone:
Code:
[10.01. - 00:39:57] Failed to connect to database: Error: #2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)
The last one looks like the most important, but I don't know how to go about fixing that. I checked for things that had the same timestamp as the world_debug, and the only error displayed was

Code:
[09.30. - 23:51:52] Could not load EQTime file eqtime.cfg
(Need to go to sleep for now, sorry, will reply to this thread ASAP tomorrow...thanks for all the help so far!)

This will set the password for your database. You should have already done this, but...
if you have to enter a password after the mysql -u root -p statement you have already done this, and doing it again won't help.
Code:
mysql -u root -p
\u peq
set password for 'root'@'localhost' = OLD_PASSWORD('newpwd');

Also you are using minilogin this is what my loginserver.ini file looks like.
Code:
[LoginServer]
loginserver=192.168.0.104
#loginserver2=
loginport=5999
#loginport2=
#worldname=EqEmuPortable
#worldaddress=168.192.0.104
#locked=false
#account=
#password=

[WorldServer]
Defaultstatus=
Unavailzone=

[ChatChannelServer]
worldshortname=
chataddress=
chatport=

[LoginConfig]
ServerMode=Minilogin
ServerPort=5999
Just something else to look at.

Maybe sleep will help

I fixed it. The problem was that I needed to launch 4 windows: world.exe, MiniLogin.exe, eqlaunch.exe and zone.exe. Zone.exe was able to connect to the MySQL database after I rebooted and reinitialized my MySQL from the system tray monitor. After I did that zones can load no problem...apparently zone.exe wasn't a part of my start.bat file; maybe I missed something in the guide?

Thanks for all of your help Sylaei!
