Some servers have a char mover tool on their website. You should try it if so. Your issue is specific to the server you are playing on. The best solution is to asked to get moved by a GM on that server or on their forums.

Are you sure this is a character issue?

The game crashes before I even see the SOE splash screen. I'm not able to get a to character select.

Oh, if it is happening before you get to Char select, then that isn't a character issue. Have you tried undoing the change you did to the Nektulos file name? Try changing it back to .eqg and see if that helps.
