Laptop multi-core CPUs require special drivers sometimes. I know I have seen posts about people having problems with them and fixing them with drivers, but I don't have a link to a thread with that fix. Just something to give you an idea of what to look for. I would suggest searching the SoE EQ knowledge base about your laptop model or CPU or something. I think that is how the last person found the fix.

You don't need the patch with your CPU since it's an Intel. The patch is only for AMD CPUs. There's no issues with multicore Intel CPUs with Windows - it was only an AMD issue since it wasn't addressed properly and making programs bog down in anything older than Windows Vista (i.e. WinXP, 98, etc.). If you have SP2 installed for WindowsXP, it should have the fix automatically installed with it.

If you're looking for laptop drivers for your GPU, head to laptopvideo2go.com and check out their forums. They guy has an awesome selection of drivers for laptops.

Also might want to use Driver Sweeper and clean out old remnants of your videocard drivers before installing them again. And make sure your chipset drivers are up to date.

Actually, I don't think most of the multi-core CPU issues were fixed until XP SP3. So, if you don't have that yet, it would be a good time to get it and see if that helps.

It's SP2. It's on the AMD site.
