I've found that roleplaying with humour (Terry Prachett style) seems to go down OK most of the time. Seems to me that there are too many people who treat the game way too seriously to appreciate hard-core RP. Ultimately, pen and paper gaming is still the only way to do that IMHO.

I think your ogre is actually a hill giant, and it seems it slashes you.. for about 25 damage!
