I think the thought is that classic eq was a natural beauty where luclin+ was her whoring herself out with boob job lip job and fake eyelashes. Its more of a desire to return to the original game more than new stuff being too overpowered or other things (which generally did happen too).

Don't get me wrong, I don't thing classic eq was perfect, I think it left quite a bit to be desired and I am working on improving those aspects that I think could me smoothed out. But the direction the game went was pandering to hand holding "get me to endgame" WoW type players, flashy and presumptuous models and textures that just didn't fit, and ravenous vertical content junkies rather than the person who appreciated the classic beauty of the original EQ game.

I'm glad to see other people feel the same way. I think its important to remember that people that like to quest like Karma and myself don't care that the items we quest aren't super good and on par with dropped items, its that they aren't relevant at all because of the saturated economy that all of these time locked classic servers have. I think EQ has plenty of quests from even the lowest of levels. Scarab plate quests from kaladim, theres an entire bloodforge chain suite that can be quested at lvl 12, screaming mace, prayer shawl many more on Faydwer alone. Crafted, Ravenscale Darkforge, these are fun quest chains nobody does because they can buy better with HQ bear pelts and spider silk money. Again I think a NODROP server fixes this problem.
