Are you trying to bypass the login server or are you describing a method that you found to get access to your server through the login server?
I was sort of expecting problems from the db, but somehow I was able to avoid it -- maybe it was something that the login server did to the db.

here is the link for how to get set up using the login server; it seems like a lot of steps but I believe is is fairly bullet-proof.
