I have the same problems, I have so far only logged off normally 1 time out of playing about 15 times. MY biggest problem is I got a router. I remember just a few months ago playing on this and in that few months it has vastly improved. 5 months ago I was lucky to be able to zone at all, now I can get a few zones in.
Gotta remember another thing. The people running these servers don't have a whole room dedicated to run this game like Sony has. Thats why your not paying per month to play. I hardly consider this a waste of time, at least no more so then paying to play the game on-line (playing any game is a waste of time actually). If your expecting this to play just like the pay server you might as well forget it. Even if the program was 100% perfect it still isn't going to be like the original. We don't have the original eqdatabase, original quests, original leveling system, original mob info/loot, and super expensive server equipment.
So don't go blameing JUST the software. For all you know the server you tried to connect to could have been run on a slow computer, or somebody with dial-up.
