Default No video devices?

Hi, first off thank you all for helping me before with my personal probs. here's a prob of my friend's copy and pasted in an email:

i did everything exactly as the page said, but when i go to open the new eqgame link it goes to open the program and says, no 3d devices found. I know i have the right video card as i have played eq again, so what do i do to fix the problem?

Thank you all if you can help

Just a question, can you play on EQLive? I have heard of this problem after the graphics engine patch with some people, especially with S3 Prosavage card, I think it was.

But, can you play on live now?

DX9 patch happened and some video cards no longer work. Also, are you using DX9?

So i'm not sure if i got the whole patch, i didnt get a disconnection message from dx9 but i was disconnected when i woke up in the morning. Is Dx9 going to prevent me from playing?

I'm not sure if you need DX9 to play... To check which dx you have, run dxdiag. If you don't know how to do it, from your start menu, click on run. Type dxdiag and it will tell you which version of dx you have.

What card are you using? With some older cards, even if you have DX9 it is NOT DX9 compatible and will still have problems...

Well, you still havent told me what vdo card you have... Saying it is the one that came with your Vaio is NOT a pertenant answer, nor even complete... If you do NOT know, try looking in the manual, also what is the date of the laptop (that will help decide if the card is new enough)?

Try going to the website of the manufacturer of the vdo card and download the newest drivers for it.. Dont use the drivers supplied with your laptop as they are usually NOT updated as frequently as the manufacturers drivers...

Uninstall your vdo card drivers, and reboot, make sure to install a standard vga card, then reboot again, now install the drivers you downloaded...

Are you able to play on EQLive? If you can't maybe you should go to the source and hit them up for tech support (sis cards are crap btw, NO offense, but i have one in my laptop), as they MIGHT be able to better help you in this situation..

I wouldnt mention that you play on EQEMu though hehe...
