It will always be impossible for everyone to play on every server. Usually almost every patch makes it so only people with that patch or maybe 1 or 2 other patches before that one can play on a server designed to be compatible with that patch. And the patches come out faster than servers that have lots of custom content can update. So most of the servers are behind a few versions and some servers like Winters Roar refuse to be compatible with any new patches until Sony fixes some bugs. So there will always be a broad spectrum of different versioned servers. Just get on a server you like and play on it. And never patch until that server tells you to. And if you want to play on several servers just pick ones that are the same version or make multiple copies of your eq folder so that you can have a variety of patches.
