Getting started

I'd like to try EQemu out, but I'm not sure how to (i've read most of the wiki).

Confusing Issue 1) I can only download the latest game from Sony, but the patch says 9/13 (few months ago). Will I even be able to play? (The download is a patcher) [~RD~ Some of this paragraph was edited to comply with forum rules.]

Confusing Issue 2) I logged in to EQemu and saw the "Preferred" and "Standard" servers. What's the difference? I just want to test EQ out in "god mode". Can I join any of these and play away?

Confusing Issue 3) Do I have to run any EQemu software (client side) to play? I noticed some downloads in the "Downloads" section and on sourcefourge.


If anyone could help me out here, I would truly appreciate it.

1a) you patch from sony you cant play..(past 9-13)
1b) read forum rules..asking for files is aginst the rules

2) to run in god mode you would have to run your own server(most servers dont allow god mode)

3) to play you just have to edit the eqhosts.txt file, to host a server you need to download and install prog's..

Heh, I did read the forum rules, but I figured that meant directly saying "can I have the files", not "is there a place"... Anyhow, it looks like I won't continue looking into the EQemu thing (more work than intended for a quick glance, heh)
