Default When zoning - connections to AIT and nexiconinc?

When i zone i notice in PeerGuardian that the EQ client tries to communicate with 216.117.177.125:7778/7779 UDP. That IP is owned by AIT and has some connection to nexicon inc, which deals with intellectual property protection/anti-piracy.

why does the emulator make use of this IP?

the emulator does not use this IP at all.. if you saw the client trying to use that IP in any way its something in the client.. not the server.

I Googled that address and it would appear it hosted a login server at some point in the past. Post #4 on this thread:
