Default Underfoot

I understand that the current open source eqemulator is lacking the code for some of the latest expansions including underfoot. I am interested in updating the code for doing so as I have access to several underfoot accounts to debug under. I was wondering if anyone has taken the first steps into documenting the login protocol and packets and if that information was available so I had a basis to start with. I have been working on several of the ingame packets and have done a fair bit of decoding what is in them but have yet to start on the inital packet sequence.

At the moment, the current server source and login server source on the SVN (http://code.google.com/p/projecteqemu/source/list) are 'compatible' with the current live EQ client (which obviously includes the Underfoot expansion).

I put 'compatible' in quotes, as there are no doubt some features that don't work (that work in the 'supported clients, Titanium, SoF & SoD) as it is not our intention to have the live client fully playable, but just to keep relatively up to date with the current client so that it should be relatively easy to support, for example the Underfoot download from Steam, or any future expansions, if so desired.

From what I hear, the very latest Live patch has broken the ability to log into the Login Server again. So, we will need to correct that at some point. Right now, we are not overly concerned with keeping the fully patched Live clients functional, though it wouldn't hurt to get them working on the Login Server so we can continue to at least somewhat keep up with Live to reduce work in the future for later clients if ever needed. It is normally much easier to keep up with a few minor changes here and there than it is to wait a couple years and then try to get a new client working.

While our original plans for the Live client were to just get the basics working, I think those plans have changed now that the new SoD "Starter Pack" from Steam is now the June 8th EQ Live client that includes Underfoot. We will most likely have that client caught up with the functionality of the SoD client as soon as we can.

I am just about to start a new Dev thread for the updated Steam client, so we can track what needs work and what bugs need to be resolved. At least most of the systems are functional, but there are definitely issues left to iron out.

That doesn't appear to be true. I just patched to live and it is still the June 8 build and logs in to PEQ just fine. Even with the Test Server build (July 7), I can get to server select.

Ahh, I had heard it from Secrets, but she was talking about some future (July 13th) client, so maybe it isn't true.

Yeah it's actually a bug if it is patched from the old patcher that I made work with the live launchpad files, it corrupts something or other about the files. I can't quite figure it out.
