Default Wrath of Zek - PVP - Community input wanted.

We are currently in the process of reigniting a dorment project and we wish to hear some input from the community. The server as it is now is just an virtual machine to test the code with the latest revision. It is not updated and will go down alot in the near future. This is just a post to see if there is interest in the community for a new PVP server.

We will move to a dedicated server in a privately owned data center so we will not be asking for donations to keep the internet connection. As of now we have a 1 GB fiber connection to the data center and more than enough hardware.

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated. See below for more information.

Wrath of Zek is a PvP enabled server with the kunark expansion enabled. Max level is 60 and AAs up to archtype is enabled with some modifications. We hope to be able to release the Scars of Velious expansion within a near future and enable AAs up to class.

The experience modifier is 2.0 and the AA experience is the default.

We, the developers, are all old EverQuest players from several different PvP servers (Rallos Zek, Sullon Zek and Zek) and we hope that our ruleset and modifications will create an competitive and enjoyable environment.

There is a PvP point system and ladder in place to encourage fair PvP combat. You will able to see this system in game through the PvP window.

1. Players will be able to engage in PvP when they reach level 10.
2. Once you engage in PvP you will be locked out from crossing a zone border for 30 seconds. This does not prevent you from porting, gating or using potions to exit the zone. (This last sentence is heavily debated, we might restrict porting/gating/potions if the community wishes or if we deem it to unbalanced.)
3. When killing a player you will be rewarded to loot their coins and 1 item if they are within a 10 level range.
4. You will receive PvP points for players within a 10 level range and the level difference will act as an point modifier.
5. You will not receive PvP points for killing someone 10 to 20 levels below your level.
6. You will be given negative points and a faction hit for killing someone 20 levels below unless you have been engaged or other requirements are met. For more information, see below.
7. There is a 20 level range limit on beneficial spells.
8. Some raid zones are PvP free for all zones, this means there will be no punishment for killing players 20 levels below your level limit or more then the daily limit. Enter at your own risk.
9. Group and guildmembers are protected from friendly damage to help with PVE content and PVP.

Across the continents there will be a new priest in town who feeds from the wrath of the Zeks. When a player reaches a certain grade of experience in the field of hunting for souls, your total PvP points will be converted to an available PvP point by the grace of the Zeks. You will be able to purchase certain items only available through the PVP merchants.

The Priests of Wrath have replaced the Priests of Discord as PVP is no longer voluntary. Priests of Wrath have their own faction so beware whom you kill. Breaking the rules or playing unfair will give you worse faction with the Priests of Wrath. Players with the worst faction will be listed on the bounty list and will also be able to be identified through our custom con system. Killing players with bad faction is one way of reedeming yourself with Zek. We will also implement quests to raise your faction.

We will also be implementing certain class specific fixes to encourage a more diverse player base. We will post more about that in the future.

Sorry but i don't think that will happen again. Guildwars/DoH was really good shit but this post is not about that.
We are sharing an idea that we have been working out and just wanna get some feedback on what the eqemu pvp community thinks about it.

I think this is a fantastic idea. I'd just like the experience rate to be raised significantly enough that there'd finally be a new server that's more about PvP than PvE leveling/farming. We've all leveled characters a hundred times over by now.

It's great to see a server that encourages PvP through points and such though. Additionally, it might be nice to see AAs somehow purchasable through the PvP point system (by purchasing AA experience with PvP points instead of earning it through killing mobs). I'm looking forward to this server opening.

Is there any eta on when beta and or release are going to happen? I am actually pretty excited to give this a go but don't want to get too pumped until there is a date.

Since the server only goes up to Kunark, will it be somewhat classic (but with AA's and other stuff obviously)? It would especially be nice if it used p99's database since it's like the only server where Bard instrument mods actually work.
