Default Live to Emu

I noticed there have been few questions about swapping a emu character to live, and I know this is a bad thing (EQLive's MOTD when logging in even addressed it hahaha) and I seen the magelo converter, but the mageloplayerthing is actually outdated (/duck).

What I'm curious is, is to if you can get a "copy" of your Live character and enter it into Emu without having to go through all the hassle of re-editing a new or emu-current database? Sort of like... using Neverwinter Nights saved game and loading it in a toolset map.

(For those of you who aren't familiar... you save your character from someone's custom mod and you can enter it into your own local saved where there are chests and "lockers" that have your own created items to which you can save again and use it to enter a locally saved character based custom mod).

I know some things aren't allowed, like certain custom items and gm commands, because of set "rules" on certain servers. But I mainly play on a Live server (boo hiss) and basically want to roam around during my "downtime" with using the same basic character. Example- My "main" doesn't have VT key nor Emperor key. If I wanted to just run around VT (That is if VT is mapped out) but I don't want to go through the timesink of having to walk through everything to get it "created".

Hmm, sum up... maybe way easier to answer...

Can we load a Live file onto the Emu servers?

I dont think you can, the character files for EQlive are stored server-side, as are the ones for EQemu. Actually you could, but it would involve hacking, many years in jail... and...

An experienced hacker could, but he/she probably wouldnt be around to use the file, once he/she hacked it.

Well I know we all have character files and .ini's for configurations, and I'm sure there is a "way" (legal) to get a copy of your character file, just not to upload.

Just wasn't sure if you could in any way, use it w/ EqEMU.

Thanks for the help =).

your ini is the configuration for the UI and socials and buttons and the such... not your character. The eqlive files would NEVER be given out to anyone, in fact even if you knew someone who worked for SoE, you wouldn't be able to get them. So no, there's no way to use an eqlive character on the emu, or vice versa. Just summon the items and such and move on :p

That's my problem... I'm too inept.

I can log on and join someone's server, but can't get MySql to work because it is beyond me and my computer to simply have db.sql so I get stuck there.

So that's why I was wondering about a way around the actual "work" needed to play.

Unless someone out there is bored enough and wants to make me a database and I can make the appropriate magelo to supply the list.

=\

There is a utility to get character profiles from the magelo database, but currently it is broken. Make a magelo profile, run their tools to get your live char info into magelo, then run kaiyodo's app to create that character in your local servers DB.

Again, as of now kaiyodo is working on fixing his tool, and until he is done, your more or less sol.

Yeah, got the magelo thing done (for awhile now actually) and can log in np at all as a lvl 1.

My main problem is with the whole database thing. I moved every file needed from every zip into the /mysql/bin and ran mysql.exe and all that, but was a looong loong list of errors saying that the tables couldn't be found. And every time I tried using the FQAdmin or anything else, it has been a long laundry list of problems.

Guess all I have now is a next question, which hopefully proves a solution for my problem...

Since I cannot get a working database, I obviously cannot have sort of GM priveleges to summon, or self port, or anything like that... but... can another person with GM permissions do that sort of thing for me? Like if I wanted a Tolamjump Robe he/she could summon it?

create Database named eq
load DB.sql into database eq
run install file for DB Addon

done

If you chose to use different DB names you have to change the DB Addon batch file

If you already have a database names EQ you have to delete it first...
