Default Black Screen, No Login

Hello All Fellow Emulators,

I have installed this previously on my last computer, it also had Win 7 x64 Home prem, with no issues. I just made a new computer and I am having some issues.
I follow the steps on the EQEmulator:Play Guide but when I launch the game it gives me a black screen and stays there for as long as I leave it open (30 or min's is longest time I waited) but I never get a log in screen.

Any idea's?

It's a graphics card problem, my new ati 5830, I can't play in Full mode, I have to play windowed. As soon as I Alt+Entered, the log in screen was there. As soon as I un windowed it, all I get is a black screen.

Hope this helps someone else.

Lightbulb Running EQ in a window on Windows 7/Vista

For windows vista and 7, you will want to disable visual theme's and disable desktop composition for eqgame.exe's shortcut.

To find these options, right click the shortcut, select Propertes, click the Compatibility tab, and check the above features to disable them.

Another way is to use the classic theme (non-aero enabled theme). Basically aero doesn't play nicely with some games.

I'm able to 3 box with EQ windowed on my system this way.

I do not do any of that with windows 7 64-bit and have launched as many as 19 clients at one time using the UF client before my system became unusable.

agreed, this would have helped if it was in the FAQ and saved some time/frustration.

When I went from a normal 1280x1024 monitor to a wide-screen monitor, I had this problem. I think my reso now is like 1680 x 1080 or something, and I had to go into my eqclient.ini and force the resolution to 1280x1024 first, then once I got in-game I could adjust after.

My current eqclient.ini block:
Code:
[VideoMode]
Width=1280
Height=1024
WidthWindowed=1280
HeightWindowed=1024
WindowedWidth=1600
WindowedHeight=900
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
FullscreenRefreshRate=0
Even with these settings, my client (windowed mode) is 1600x900. I haven't tried full-screen in a long time, because that's just now how I run game clients
