Default Eqhost.txt problem

I was able to change the file properly

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998

is what I changed it to, however when I start the exe and get to log in screen in it says

Error1010: No host was found!
Check that the file EQHOST.TXT exists in the everquest directory.

Any help you can give would be great!

You need to make sure that file is labeled eqhost.txt, also, make sure you did not save the file as eqhost.txt with the (txt file) dropdown selected, otherwise you just saved it as eqhost.txt.txt, otherwise, the file looks right. so try to delete the eqhost file and redo it, pay attention to the capital letters. it needs to look exactly like this

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998

I just got back from the gym at about 4am GMT and get a timeout when attempting to log in. Earlier, at about 1am GMT I had no issues.

Anything wrong with the login server?

It wasn't .txt.txt but thanks that was a good idea. I decided to delete and reinstall from CD and it worked. So what ever it was it fixed it. Maybe corrupted file or something. Anyways thanks!

I'm having the same problem. Everytime I try to log on, it gives me the Error1010: No host was found! message. I've already changed it, I've tried deleting the file and replacing it, and even deleted my entire Everquest folder and started from scratch. Any help?

Make sure you don't have extra trailing white space at the end of any lines in that file. If you hit CTRL+A, you should be able to see any extra spaces or whatever at the end of lines. Just hit your End key and then backspace until there is no extra space left at the end of the lines and save the file again.

For permissions issues, see the FAQ in my sig for some suggestions for UAC in Windows Vista/7.

There are no blank spaces at the end of either of the lines, and there are no extra lines. I have exactly:

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998

Either I'm blind, or I have it correct and it is giving me the error for some other reason. :/ This is pretty frustrating.

If you have multiple EQ folders on your PC, make sure your shortcut is pointing to the correct one. Also, if you are using a client other than Titanium or SoF, you may need to use port 5999 instead of 5998.
