Question Parry broken?

A buddy of mine is complaining about his parry skill not working properly. First, in combat he doesnt get any parry messages, second (and therefor), the skill isnt trained automatically. How can that be?

Another rather cosmetic error is that in his skill list it says for example Dodge 20/20, but the skill is automatically trained beyond that while fighting.

Any help appreciated.

If he is on Titanium and you are using an updated skill_caps table, then they might not match the same caps as the old client. I don't even think the old skill_caps table matched the Titanium client 100% though.

I haven't heard any issues with Parry, but has your friend checked to make sure he spent at least 1 point at the GM skill trainer to buy parry? Without buying it, it will not start skilling up from 0.

Its even getting stranger. He was able to learn the skill at the Rangers Guild being around lvl 14. But on EQThieves it is said Rangers get Parry at lvl 18.

Nope, he is not using Titanium, I think its SOD or Underfoot.

By the way, I am using the standard PEQ skill_cap table.

The newer clients are probably 5+ years newer than the data in the default PEQ skill_caps table. There have been some changes since that time, so there will definitely be some oddities seen unless you update your skill_caps table to match what client you expect most of your players to use on your server. I know some skills have changed which level they are trainable for some classes, which may be the case for Ranger Parry.

Well, where can I find an accurate table for SoD / Underfoot?

And where are the trainable skills per level declared? I remember my paladin got a Bash skill since creation, but it didnt work till he learned the skill at lvl 3 (or 4?) from a GM.

I uploaded a more recent skill_caps table that I made, and you can get it here:

Ok, obviously I was blind...class_skill is it, right?

So, is your skill_caps in sync with the PEQ class_skill table or so I need to use a more up-to-date version if that table too?

Hey guys. I just wanted to add a few things, as I'm having an issue of my own.

Currently from testing trainable skills on a Warrior, I can say that they are fudged all up.

For instance, Dodge and Parry are normally trained at 6 and 10 respectively, but for some reason the trainer shows 5 for both. Disarm is normally 35, but the trainer says 10. Bash is normally 6, trained at 1. Riposte normally 25, trained at 15? lol... And for some unknown reason... it shows Research at level 16...

Dual Wield and Double Attack seem to be just fine.

I looked in class_skills and everything is set correctly there, so I dunno what is up with that exactly, but whatever it is has to be with the server code, I'm almost certain. Any ideas where I might find the code for it?

Also, I wanted to thank Trevious for the sql update. I was going to do it by hand until I came across this thread. Thank the maker, haha.
