Ahh yeah, 1366 x 768 is definitely an odd resolution and I don't even see that one listed in the EQ options when I check for video modes. I do see 1360 x 768 though.

You may want to try editing your eqclient.ini file directly and adding the section below if it doesn't already exist and then maybe try adjusting the values there to see if you can find a resolution that works for you.

Code:
[VideoMode]
Width=1280
Height=768
WindowedWidth=1366
WindowedHeight=768
FullscreenRefreshRate=0
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
You should also be taking a look at your everquest \logs\dbg.txt file to see if it has any useful info related to the crash in there. You can post the output of that file if you want and maybe someone here will find that useful to help you find the issue.

Some other config lines for eqclient.ini that you might try messing with are the sound one (I would recommend trying this as false):

Sound=FALSE

You might try setting this one to 1 (default is 0):

DisableWestBugFix=1

Don't forget to try setting Windowed Mode back to false:

WindowedMode=FALSE

Delete the following:

EQMain.dll
EQGfx_dx8.dll
EQClient.ini
EQGame.exe
EQHardware.ini
EQGraphicsDX9.dll
UI_charactername_server.ini
charactername_server.ini

userdata folder
uifiles folder.

Now repatch.

***********************************

Start patcher but do NOT hit play. Hit Options and run through it, setting resolution to default 800x600. Now you can try entering the game. If you do, you can change the resolution to match your MONITOR's current/native resolution. If your monitor is an LCD and using DVI-DVI connection, and you change the resolution to something that your LCD does not support or outside its range, EQ will crash when the system tells it can not render at that resolution.

Follow the instructions below if an error pops up after hitting the Play button on the patcher.
<hr>
Open up your eqclient.ini, located in the main Everquest folder, delete everything there and insert the following lines, changing the Videomode settings to match your desktop's current resolution, keeping both W/H and WW/WH the same (I only used different numbers so that the lines would stand out).

Also, if you run the Options (or optioneditor.exe) to select/deselect models, afterwards you may need to edit the VideoMode settings since that Options Editor does not show all the available resolutions.

[Defaults]
WindowedMode=TRUE

[VideoMode]
WindowedWidth=1280
WindowedHeight=1024
Width=1024
Height=768
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
FullscreenRefreshRate=60

Do you get the same issue if you try creating a character on other servers? Also, are you trying to use a custom UI or just the default?

The post that NoPort made may be good for reference, but that is for support of EQLive, so the part about deleting files and patching is not something that you should do on EQEmu. You should never patch EQ to Live if you play EQEmu or it will break it.
