Default Looking for a server host

Hey everyone, I'm looking for someone who would want to host a server that I could work on. I've got some good ideas and I also have some time on my hands. Let me know if you could set me up with access to your server. Thanks =)

Why don't you set it up LAN, and present a proof of concept, and then maybe someone will take on that project.

Try and come up with an outline and some dead set facts on how the server will roll out.

Many admins give up because of the time sink the server is. Alot of people won't just give rack space for something that is just an idea.

I can do that, but I also know that there are a lot of people who have servers set up already that don't do anything with them. I'm not all that good with running a server and setting one up. I can learn, but it will be a HUGE time sink for me and probably will be annoying to other people for the constant questions. If someone knows how to operate a server then awesome. I know fairly well how to develop on a server that is clean and ready to go. Some people have gotten servers up and then went brain dead on where/what they wanted to do with the server. If someone has a server that they would like to see someone developing content for, I'm here with ideas. I'd rather them contact me and I'll be able to elaborate those ideas much more. I'm not necessarily looking to convince someone to start from scratch and give me a server, I'm more or less looking for those who have hosted servers previously and are letting them rot without any developement or are no longer online with them because they just gave up. It won't be a huge time sink for them to give me access to development.

Hope that clears up why my post was vague.

How do you own a car without knowing how to turn it on?

The time it will take you to learn how to set up the server is such a tiny fraction of the amount of time you will spend developing a server, its not even worth a thought. If you think you can setup a server and then never have to worry about restarting it, transferring files, compiling new source, etc then you are in for a huge surprise.

If you want a personal dev server, then do a LAN server. If you can't setup a server, you can't develop a custom server.

Setting it up is pretty easy and thanks to Akkadius's recent work it got easier to compile the source.
Getting familiar with all the tools available and getting them to work is slightly harder but is just taking the time to do it.
Then its up to you to layout your idea and do something with it.
