Default Boot5zones.bat is not working

Bah Boot5zones.bat is not working what is going , it flashes and the windows dissapear

using windows 2k pro.

my server was working fine before 3.12 came out , i put all the options back correctly , and used the db that came with 3.12 just to be sure.. (also should we put on the addon database too?)

when connecting with world.exe i, noticed in the first line says
Failed to connec to database: Error connectionto mysql server during query..... .... mySQL server gone away

the only thing i am doing differnt today is logging in with my dail up not the dsl. but i did put in the IP numbers for the dail up, i will try using the DSL again tonight when it is free. I am not sure if this is a problem, since I do not know Windows 2k pro all that well. for example i made sure the dailup had client checked and so forth i used ever IP address I could find for the login.ini

i noticed in win 2k that there is a

"server ip Address" and a
"client ip adress"
"also there is the IP of my pc's NIC"

I tried all of these and world does not seem to be communicating with mysql.

also the Boot5zones.bat windows are dropping without messages, even with eco off and exit removed from scripit..

Thanks MM

Default zone.exe application error

Here is the error I am getting:

---------------------------
Zone.exe - Application Error
---------------------------
The instruction at "0x00458ff0" referenced memory at "0xc3d4db1d". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
---------------------------
OK Cancel
---------------------------

and when I click ok, I get:

---------------------------
Zone.exe - Application Error
---------------------------
The instruction at "0x00458820" referenced memory at "0xc3d4dae9". The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
---------------------------
OK Cancel
---------------------------

minilogon.exe and world.exe load up fine. I then did the following:

zone ecommons localhost 8000 localhost

and I also tried it like:

zone ecommons 127.0.0.1 8000 127.0.0.1

and it still gave the same errors. I have read all the readme files. I have had eqemu working in the past about 6 months ago. But with this new version, I keep running into this error. Any advice?

This is what the zone.exe displays just before the error:

C:\eqemu>zone ecommons localhost 8000 localhost
Using database 'eq' at localhost
EQEMu 0.3.12 - Wiederbelebung
Loading zone names, items & NPCs...
EMuShareMem.dll loaded.
Loading NPCTypes from database...
...done.

I have sourced the db and I have installed the addondb.

Default same issue

I am having the same issue with boot5zones.bat, in the same place. I have been able to get world and minilogin to work without error. I have tried a clean install following the guidelines in this forum, twice. I am using winxp pro sp1 and the latest of each of the components used for eqemu (slq, mini and emu).

@echo off
start zone . 127.0.0.1 7995 127.0.0.1
start zone . 127.0.0.1 7996 127.0.0.1
start zone . 127.0.0.1 7997 127.0.0.1
start zone . 127.0.0.1 7998 127.0.0.1
start zone . 127.0.0.1 7999 127.0.0.1
exit
cls

Try localhost instead of 127....

If that doesn't work, try the IP of the computer the server is on.

Default still no go bro!

i tried localhost and I also tried REMming all but one load to see if they were stepping on each other - only one seems to want to try the load npctypes from database thing at a time - but even then it still says "done" and then crashes.

according to the readme.html the next thing it is supposed to do is load the spells, which it never says it does, maybe thats what it is crashing on. Help?

Thanks!

You need to move the spells file from your EQ directory to your eqemu directory. That fixed it for me.

Default we have liftoff!

Hey, it works!

Here's my confession as to what was wrong - maybe someone else will benefit from knowing what I did wrong. This server did not have the patched EQ client on it - I had not bothered since I was going to run the server on different hardware than the client. Once I patched and copied the spell files to the c:\eqemu directory, and had made sure to source all of the additional sql files from the previous releases, boot5zones works great.

Thanks again guys,

same for me. I think I will post a thorough guide that has this information in it. I couldn't find it in the faq or the readme_newbies that came with the distribution. I'll un-install everything and then do it from the beginning.

Good idea ... took me 3 days to work it out myself. Eqemu isn't very newbie friendly!

But it is the best d**n server program out there, and worth every minute of trouble!
