Default Eq Merchants Question

Is it possible to spawn npc merchants in the bazaar and put in the items you want them to sell to simulate player venders on a new server with low player base?

Yes, just like any other vendor.

Are you familiar with the process of creating a merchant?

They used to do this on Winter's Roar before they gave up on EQEMU and developed their own game from scratch. The problem was that you had to pay rent to use the NPC merchants to sell your own goods for you and there was only a limited number of them available in each city so once they were all rented, everyone else was out of luck. You had to wait for someone's rental to expire and then get there before everyone else to get one. The rental fee also meant that you had make a profit that was large enough to cover the fee before it was reassessed or else you had to pay it out of your own funds in the bank which made it not worth it if you were a low level player with only crap items to sell or weren't winning enough rolls when grouped or raiding to pick up enough items to sell.
