At a minimum, you will need the bottom 7 files from here: https://github.com/EQEmu/Server/tree...ver/login_util

(Do NOT apply the 2 'EQEmuLogin##' sql files. The last 4 are the sql files needed to update your database for login server accounts.)

You will also need to update your configuration files based on this: http://wiki.eqemulator.org/p?Windows...Guide&frm=Main

(There is a link floating around to a pre-compiled login server binary..I just can't find it atm...)

You will probably need to use this eqemu_config.xml file as well: https://github.com/EQEmu/Server/blob...onfig.xml.full

(Make a back-up copy of your current one, and you should be able to just copy the contents over it. I can't remember if the repack's config file is the short or long
one..so, verify that before copying the contents over.)

Finding that binary and proper configuration should be all that you need at this point.

If you plan to run a 'disconnected' (from the internet) server, then make sure that you read this: http://wiki.eqemulator.org/p?Complet...Guide&frm=Main

(In particular, section 6d - Database Updates (Applying).)

I haven't tested the repack and private login combo myself..but, there are at least a handful of people who have reported success with it.

As-is is fine too!

There are ways to keep others out, such as locking your server in your config file and giving people that you want in a high enough status to bypass the lock.

I haven't played with that feature..but, there are posts about it.

Downtime for the eqemu public login server is fairly low.

Host computer updates and occasional bouts of DDoS'ing are about all I've seen in the last 3 1/2 years.

EDIT: Though your computer and the eqemu public login server may be up and working, it's possible to have problems with your ISP or other 'backbone' computers.

You can always play on the public login server until you become more comfortable with the administrative aspect and then decide if you want to go with a private
login server later on.

If you plan on running a LAN-only server, I (personally) highly recommend a private login server..but, it is not necessary..and, again, can wait until you're
comfortable in setting one up.

I agree with Uleat about carriaging that horse to let all this sink in a bit. I haven't been around very long and patience isn't my style but, I've noticed I get quite a few "Aha!" moments if I come back to it later and can ask questions differently. That's been my experience.

Congratulations on your new server! How exciting!
