Default Spell Damage seems to fall off?

Hey Folks,

I have spell damage +100 on my character, and it works for a while using something like 'bolt of flame', but then my character seems to outlevel the spell damage and the damage goes from 200 to 47 after I level a few times.

Is this a known issue, and if so, is there a workaround?

I should note that the highest level spells always seem to get +damage.

There is a rule for this in your data base. The stock Db rule is set to iirc within 4 levels for spell damage to apply. It is as easy as going into heidi, finding the rule and setting the value to w/e level difference you want.

The level difference is hard coded, but there is a rule to turn the feature off completely. If you want to change the level difference you will need to modify effects.cpp. To just turn the feature off, the rule you want is Spells:IgnoreSpellDmgLvlRestriction

Thanks for the help guys. For some reason that rule wasn't in my database.
(I used Akka's windows installer/update script) so I just manually added it.

I very much appreciate you guys helping me out with this!

No problem.

Not all the rules are in the database (especially if you use the cleanup feature of the eqemu_server.pl script) as they only need to be in there if you want to modify them from default.

The easiest way to see all the rules is to look right here;https://github.com/EQEmu/Server/blob...on/ruletypes.h

Just be aware that this is the latest build so rules may keep getting added that are not in your build unless you update. If you want the list from your particular build you would have to get a copy of ruletypes.h from whatever source your binaries were built from.
