Default Question Updating the looks of EQ1

I have a question

I have been learning how to create 3d models for video games using Gmax and I have just started trying to learn Blender. I was wondering if it would be very hard to update areas/models for EQ1. Would the engine be able to handle adding more pollys to say the ground, hills, rocks, trees and so on?

The one game I have always loved is EQ1 from Classic to Velious. However it is really out dated looking so I was thinking if it was as easy to do as it is for Neverwinter Nights that I may look into creating updates for it.

All this said I'm not a fan of how Sony made HighHold Pass and other zones look with the updates they did.

Packet did something similar in the past: http://www.eqemulator.org/forums/showthread.php?t=40704

I'm skeptical it will be as easy as Neverwinter Nights.
