Default CVS login failed

as per the instructions for someone elses post I tried to get the cvs but when I typed in the following command...

cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/eqemu login

it then asked for a password... I tried both a blank password and an email address both give me the following response...

cvs [login aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any)

any help would again be appreciated

dkiser@denial dkiser $ cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/eqemu co NightDumps
? NightDumps/EQEMu Release/.new.db.sql
cvs server: Updating NightDumps
cvs server: Updating NightDumps/EQEMu Release

as you can see, working fine for me... not sure, maybe a connection issue. can you connect to any other cvs repositories...
