Default Required and Recommended Level on items

The reclevel and reqlevel item settings do not appear to be working on my 5.7 dr6 server. Should they be working? if they should be implemented on the version i am running can anyone give me some tips on why it isnt so i may fix it.
thanks in advance.

There's a bug in the system right now that if somebody below an item's rec/req level equips the item... the zone crashes :P

In the items database they're distributing, they might have taken out all rec/req levels until this bug is fixed.

Better than it used to be. Used to be that when you equiped an item such as you are talking about, you would die, then respawn and die all over again, in a hideous loop giving ONLY enough time to fast click the item out of your inventory (provided that you know which item it was)... But had the added effect of giving you 0's and negative stats accross the board....:(
