Your patches may be out of alignment, google for an EQ patcher

open a command window

type this at the command prompt

ping newlogin1.eqemulator.net

If you get something back, it could still be your patches, maybe too new, maybe not new enough.

Another thing is the alignment of the planets, this will cause non-connect type issues.

I means that Pluto is misaligned with the sun and you are not able to connect; then again, let me check for typos real quick.

ping newlogin1.eqemulator.net

that's what it should be; if your request timed out, wait a little while and try again, you can't touch the login server at the moment if you can't ping it.

I've been able to login, and play...but about 5 minutes later I go LD.

The only thing I can think of is the login server is coughing.

The GM of the server said that they had an error message in World.exe about the login server of some sort...hopefully they'll sort it out.
