This is very interesting. I hope a EQOA emulator sees the light of day. I played EQOA for a few months and it was pretty good. I liked the feel of it. It captured the MMORPG feel and had a slight console feel to it. While I'll always prefer EQ, or UO type RPGs over a console system, EQOA was a lot of fun while I played it. The only reasdon I stopped is because I don't see the necessity to pay a monthly fee for a game. From now on I just pass on any monthly fee based games. There are many that are free like EQ emulator, RunUO, NWN, and soon Guild Wars will also be free.
Hi, I hate to bump a thread from way back, but I'm just wondering if anyone could tell me how I could packet collect or sniff this off my PS2.
I'm new to most of this, but am willing to work hard to learn. =/ I want to emulate EQOA sooo bad, mainly due to that I know a lot of old players would come back if there was a free server. But I'd be happy with just running around by myself even lol.
Can anyone aid a newbie to emus :s pretty please with tunar on top?
Also, if anyone was interested on working on this, please send me a PM, I'm sure I could give you benefits one way or another.
Thanks! And sorry again for the bump. Just very anxious to get an EQOA emu up. I've googled my heart out trying to find anything on it, and this is all I can find =( my last hope.
A big problem with this is the servers are either data on the CD or on the memory card it creates. Chances are a emulator thats compatible with the PS2 is unlikely. Unless you had a nice router that allowed you to forward traffic, but every person who wanted to use the emulator would have to do this..

Here is some secret information from the EQOA Revival Project. I want to share our progress with you folks and hope to attract some attention from talented devs that would be able to help us revive this beautiful, classic Everquest experience.
So far we've been able to: set up a patching server, bypass log in by sending an auth key to the client during login (we are in the midst of creating a real login server), and get to the server selection screen. At this point we're working on getting into the game world itself.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully help us out.
