Well, I like to adapt because it's the smart thing to do, but I'm getting my handbasket fixed up for a little trip this summer.

I'm setting up a server soon, but I'm having trouble deciding how it'll be set up. I'd like it to be a mix of legit and "get the uber loot asap" server. I was thinking of having everyone start in West Freeport, the rest of the world "destroyed" and it all high level zones. You basically kill the mobs in the newbie zones and collect items to create your armor, weapons, level, etc.

So someone would get "Rune of Experience" and turn it into a special npc to become level whatever, haven't decided yet. Then you would collect various items to make your weapons and armor.

After that you get to set out into the world and follow a storyline some time shortly after the Planes of Power expansion.

It's either that or make it a legit server where you level from one with the same storyline. :p

I like the first idea a lot. You should go with that.

Maybe get your first Rune of Experience off a miniboss rat in West Freeport and become level 20 or something, get your next one off a miniboss in EC and become 40, then uh...Befallen and become 60. If you include 65, make it hard to get. Challenge is good :P

Yeah that's exactly the idea I was thinking of. Make it so while you still have to progress a little bit, it's a lot easier than normal EQ where it sometimes takes hours just to gain a single level.

It'll also have a very involved storyline with lots of quests. Oh and completely custom spells if I can get someone to help me with that! :P

There will always be different opinions... Also in this case.

Some like Legit and some don't.. the ones that don't and have some wits will make Non Legit servers for us to play on.

To be honest i have the same opinion as Versinia myself. I'd rather play Non Legit because of the same reasons.

Also i don't believe it would benefit me going Legit just yet seeing as a lt of things are broken BUT i don't go around bithing about it tho.

And i also play on the legit servers a bit so i'm not just ruling them out and being a stubborn ass like most others.

There's room for everyone here... Don't go flaming ppl because they like something different, there's just no reason for it :)

If i had the resources to do so i would put up a server too to help the cause but at the moment i don't. I would like to thank everyone else that did tho.. great job guys you won't hear 1 bad word from my side. i know how hard it is to maintain the servers to make them worth playing on.

I'm french, we are a small country and gamers in all the country can meet easily, it's why we prefer to play in lan parties than on internet ... EqEmu for us is the only chance we have to play Everquest with friends in lans without the need to be connected to internet and it's totally free so people that don t know eq can play with us too ...
You are doing good job with eqemu, and I hope you won t stop working on a local login server
For me public servers have to be exempt of cheats to preserve gameplay between people like every other multiplayer games in the world, if i want to try items or so, i will run my server =)
