AMEN!
Reading this whole post made me forget what I was going to say, but I agree anything but IE is good, because of IE security issues, its a pitty im stuck using win XP, I would however switch to linux in a heartbeat, if I knew for a fact every game I ever wanted to play would be compatable...
hell i'd rather use mac than Wndows...
i agree with the following people : Sotonin, a_Guest03, jammey97, Cisyouc, Scorpx725, Cavedude, irtehn00b, nanophr34k, eq_addict_08
IE is so exploitable you might as well bend over, pull your pants down and put a sign up on your ass saying insert here.
ps: don't you DARE tell me I do not understand how to take care of computers, I am a computer consultationist, I construct and maintain computer systems and networks, corporate as well as personal, the first step in securing any system is disabling IE for use from anything except the operating system!

thats great jaybocc.. but im still not about to go download and install firefox. i mean it would be totaly pointless. ie works fine, is suspoused to be faster than firefox on windows, and my computer is virus free.. installing firefox would just be a waste of time and hard drive space.

its pretty obvious that mystical guy is just acting like a hige retard just to get people angry. Probably easier to just ignore him so he can have any more fun pretending to be the most unintellegent person ever in existence. (and if he is actually retarded or something i feel like an ass)

Not to be stirring the fire, just trying to stop it before it gets out of hand. Are we really trying to force feed our opinions down each other's throats? It's impossible, you can't force someone to think like you. So stop fighting and have a simple debate about IE/Mozilla/Netscape/Opera/[insert your favorite browser here], not a flame war, so lets stop before it does or becomes incessant babble about how so-and-so's mom is the fattest.
Anyways, my point is, where are the facts supporting IE? I want to see a few things IE has over Firefox.

IE doesn't care how bad you code it still displays it.

I am 100% certain that Firefox is faster than Internet Explorer. I have used both for a good amount of time and my experience with Firefox has been 10x better.

not accepting these statements as fact is ignorance

Are there people that DL firefox to be "l33t"? Probably. Am I proud of it? No. Do I give a care? No.
The fact is, Windows or Linux, the jury is out. Firefox is superior. If you don't accept to that fact then you sir, either really don't care, or are too lazy and would rather reformat later. (And it looks like from that picture that you did have to recently reformat.)

Well, all of you guys have gotten me to try Firefox for a day . Even though I'm on your 'side' mysticalninjajesus you have no brought up one good arguement against Firefox and yes, you can get rid of IE unless you are complete retard. Anywho, I'm downloading Firefox right now and I'll give it a shot.

Mrea...when I first tried Firefox I rarely used it because I always opened internet explorer out of habit. i suggest to really see if you like it delete (or move to a folder) your internet explorer icons and replace them with firefox. (ALL of them, even your quick launch bar)
IMO

I have been using Internet Explorer forever, and I barely EVER Get Spyware.
You wanna know the biggest reason people get spyware on their computers? Its because they go to porn sites, and other add-infested sites that they don't really need to be on. I'v been working in PC Repair for only 2 weeks, and I can't even tell you how many systems I have had to restore because of spyware, and the history only shows porn.
Porn may not be the only reason, I'm sure there are others.. But a lot of times its when you click yes on the plugin popups. Don't let other people use your computer if they don't know what they're doing, unless your watching closely.

Rogean, I would agree with you if you told me that 2 months ago.
However, I never go to porn sites. I went occasionally to sites with ads, but there were never any warnings or anything that came up. I obviously knew to say 'No' to the activex controls and the like..
However I STILL got spyware and adware that kept recourring, it was impossible to get rid of. (And with my lack of HD space on my laptop, System Restore was disabled).
After reformatting just before I started working on Evolution II, I switched to Firefox. And I have not gotten a single popup, popunder, spyware, adware, etc.
The ONLY time I ever use Internet Explorer is when Firefox can't display an IE only page. (Blech).

So far I've noticed some images load slower, but cached pages load instantly (which appeared to be loading fresh in IE). I just wanted to make it known that I'm not making the switch because of spyware. After SP2 I haven't received a single thing besides the rare popup. SP1 + 2 were definitely what made XP usable.. but now I love it. I wish there wouldn't be any MS haters anymore :( haha. Anyway, I don't see Firefox as any better really, just different.
My 2 cents

SP2 seemed to be working for me and I loved it...
But it continued to miss ALOT of popups and spyware as I put too much faith into it....
(And you still cant beat TABS!)

The feature I like about Firefox the most is the 'adblock' plugin ... Right-Click on those annoying avatars/signatures, click 'Adblock Image', and you never see them again ...

I *do* use windows from time to time because of Linux haters at my school, who make plugins available in Windows-format only (there ARE standards that don't require windows, guys...).
But I never wanted to upgrade from Windows 98. Windows 98 doesn't have the same safety rating. I just don't like having my OS and my explorer in the same file... it's hazardous.
Internet stuff... / My Computer stuff...
Why can't it just be secure?
What I'm saying is that IE isn't safe naturally, because it's linked so closely to Windows.
