Make sure you have directX 9c installed, as I think someone else said directX 10 doesn't include some components from 9 that are needed for EQ.

Basically see if you can duplicate my findings. When I am not experiencing slow motion both core clock and throttle matched. When I have the slow down the throttle is half of core clock.

Also ANYONE that can't seem to find a fix please do this as well and post findings.
I used that utility during my slow downs. It showed me that my CPU Core Clock AND Throttle plummet to about 50%. My CPU Load spiked at that time as well. CPU Frequency took a nose dive to about 0, and Voltage went down to about 60% of the usual amount.

However, I think my number one problem is overheating. My CPU temp rises until the slowdown, when it goes back down again. It seems to slowdown around 80C, which makes sense.

Any ideas about what I can do to alleviate this? I had a similar problem playing WoW and I fixed it by putting my laptop on top of books to increase airflow. The thing is I can play games like Half-life 2 on this computer. I'm hoping it's a something I can fix with my settings.

The first thing that came to mind was that perhaps my Processor is doing all the work while my video card is lagging behind. Here are my system specs from dxdiag:

Oh and here is what I've done so far:
Reinstalled display drivers
Reinstalled Directx
Downgraded settings in EQ, turning off anything I can and reducing resolution
Cleaned out my system (turning off unnecessary processes, etc.)

I think I had installed that last time I tried to play EQEmu, but I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

EQemu keeps freezing when I try to connect to a server. I've tried changing the compatibilities, using all of them, and changing the affinity. Nothing seems to work. My computer uses windows 7, and when i installed EQemu on my laptop (uses vista) it worked fine. Anyone have any ideas what I should do?

I have tried every method available to me, and it still lags. When trying to install SP3, nothing happens, and when trying to install the hotfix patch - it says, "Not enough storage is available to process this command." I've run CCleaner and everything. BAH BAH please help!

when I put this in the target box:
c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 1 eqgame.exe patchme

Nothing happens. Everquest doesn't start at all. The cmd window blinks for a split second, but then nothing.

I'm using windows xp.

I think that option may only work for Windows Vista or later. You will probably need to try one of the other fixes like updating to SP3 and using the AMD Optimizer if your CPU is AMD.

Every time I choose a server and click play i get a black screen and the game just locks up. I am running windows vista 64 bit with AMD tri core. I tried all the things that were mentioned in the thread. But nothing seems to be working.

I tried compatibility mode with all the different modes, did nothing
I dled the run first program followed the instructions still black screen of death.
I did the task manager thing and the CPU was already set on CPU 0

I tried messing with the resolution in the game that didnt work
My drivers are updated.

I really dont know what I am doing wrong.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

thanks!

Not sure if this will work for other people, but it worked for me.

Win7 64bit, Athlon 64 x2

I made the EQ shortcut use compatibility mode for WinXP SP3, and just under that I checked the "Disable desktop composition" checkbox as well as "Run this program as an administrator". Works flawlessly.

God im having problems with this... I never had any problem with this when i used windows XP... now i use W7 and i got it to work but its its very laggish. like i get fps drop.. i used the Affinity method in the process handler... meaby i should set some of the .exes to different core? I got a dual core so... i got 2 to choose from... annoying work since i box 6 chars:/

Running Athlon X2 dual core 6000+ (3.0 ghz) and 6 gig rams...

It works flawlessly when i only run 1 instance... but when i start 2 it begins to chop lagg...

Thanks for great guide doh. ive tried everything so far :/
