Default Server Idea (Mortality)

Mortality server. At level 70 with full exp bars, you die and never come back.

Server globally gives exp based on your level, so level one gives 1*(num) and level 50 gives 50*(num)

(Num) can be mitigated with exp pots that are modified to give .75 percent exp instead of multiples of exp. Mobs can cast spells that give 5x exp and that becomes a bad thing, have to get to an NPC that cures it or have it as a dru/shm/clr spell. Some endgame mobs may even do a selfcast 50000exp on players when the mob is at 5 percent health or something. The possibilities are fun to think about.

Killing mobs gives exp like normal, but there would be a lot less random killing of mobs because it takes time off your “life”

Can do trade skills to make food that gives .75 exp instead of 1x, but mobs that drop the mats give exp.

Raid mobs and endgame encounters drop single charge items that take away thousands of exp points. Can make it interesting by making the spell targetable.

Getting married using a marriage NPC (maybe an in-depth quest) makes the married characters gain .90 exp permanent modifier, extending their life

Top end gear has negative exp clicky on BP with one hour cooldown. Self-only cast. You could even have weapon procs that take away exp.

You could keep the necro sacrifice in place, but mitigate the spell by hugely nurfing it somehow. Make it so it only works on level 70 players and put an 8 hour cooldown on it or something. But make it so a successful cast gives 50k exp.

Not sure how the server would “kill” you off at 70 with max exp, but it would have to do it by archiving your account somehow. Maybe just booting the character and making it inactive in the DB

These are just the ideas off the top of my head. My hope is someone with the time to implement this takes it and runs with it.

Sounds pretty awful personally, not gonna lie. I think permadeath is a very punishing ruleset.
This (and a lot of similar ruleset ideas) sound like it'd be better as an opt-in flag per player on an established server, as opposed to the idea of this as an entire server.
There's precedent that people want individual rulesets for themselves, but would not play on an entire server dedicated to their playstyle.

Years ago, we assumed rulesets had to be applied to everyone. This would just result in maybe 2 or 3 players playing by that ruleset.
For instance, No external buffs, No grouping, Solo Self Found / Group Solo Self Found, Permadeath, Expansion restrictions, etc - these could all be individual rules that are imposed on the self as opposed to on the entire server.
In some cases where actual drops or loot are adjusted, or the rule needs to be consistent for everyone (ie; 1box) sure, that may be acceptable.

But I don't think generally any players would be head-over-heels with your idea - maybe a few (ie; 1 or 3), and certainly anyone with the know-how would not take their time to implement this for you - at least not for free.

Here's my advice advice: learn to do your idea yourself, so you can implement that idea yourself for free and without the headache of other people tainting your idea.
Anyone can write 9 paragraphs, but actually implementing an idea in a game takes longer than the 30 minutes you spent typing all of that out. Not to discourage you or anything. I'd actually encourage you to learn and make your idea work.

Rulesets may be a bit different in practice than in words.

Simplest solution for that is setting max level to 71, then use an EVENT_LEVEL script that would delevel to level 1 and nuke the inventory.

But, there would also be exploits to deal with, like (players taking the initiative in switching over to 100 percent AA experience at 69 to avoid leveling).

But I agree with Secrets. A server like that would be an "aquired taste".

Marquee script - "GAME OVER. WOULD YOU LIKE TO PLAY AGAIN?"
