Default Maps wont download during install script

Hello.
I have a question regarding the install script and the part where it downloads maps. For some reason that I don't know, it won't work on my home WiFi, but, it will work on another WiFi.

I have tried on 3 different computers at my house to install the server, and it has failed 5 times. (I really wish I had taken a screen shot of the error, but as soon as I see it again, I will).

I thought, oh it must be their (your?) servers, but then I took one of the 3 computers ( a laptop ) to a CASINO of all places and connected to their free WiFi and then the install worked fine. My conclusion is that it must be my WiFi somehow causing this.

I have all firewalls disabled, no AV on the machine to cause issues and it just wont work at my house.

My question is, does anyone have a suggestion as to what or why my WiFi at home would not work but other places will when it comes to downloading the map files during the install.

A strange thing also, is if I monitor my WiFi connection, there is traffic coming down the entire time it is sitting there downloading the file and eventually when it fails, the maps.zip file shows a random size (meaning its not the same every time I try) so its like it is downloading... but it never finishes. Now that I think about it more, that's what the error suggested, was that it never got the "eofc" (or something like that) for the ZIP file.

Anyway, any thoughts would be helpful.
I can just install the server elsewhere and this isn't a HUGE deal but still, why is it doing this.

Thanks!!

PS I also have the ports forwarded for eqemu not sure if that would affect this part of the install or not.

Optional - You can download the zipped up maps here:

https://github.com/Akkadius/EQEmuMap...ive/master.zip

Just unzip them into your main server/maps folder

That is good to know, thank you.

The issue is though, the installer won't finish so the SQL server never gets setup, and quests never get installed/downloaded, etc. pretty much everything after the map part fails. (I'm still waiting for it to fail this time, and hopefully can get some screenshots that will give clues) It's been running for about 3.5 hours ATM and still is downloading using "wget.exe".

I was hoping someone would just know what would block it or cause this but if its not anything "obvious" then I'll just have to not worry about it.

It should be pretty rare I need to run the installer after this first time anyway. Luckily I have another way to connect other than through my home wifi so will try that tonight to see if it works just like the Casino WiFi did.

I just think its strange that it doesn't work on my WiFi.
Thank you!

So, I was looking through the .pl file for the installer, and I noticed if a file called "eqemu_server_skip_maps_update.txt" is present, it will skip doing the maps. that's what it says anyway.

So, I stopped the other installer (after 3.5 hours it was at like 800mb zip file so seems like something is wrong there too as the one I am downloading from the link you suggested is going the same speeds (4.5-6.0Mbps) but will be done in like 30 minutes.

I am going to manually unzip the maps and then run the installer again (with that file mentioned above present) and see if I get lucky.

Stay tuned....

Update:

unfortunately I can't even get the maps.zip file to download through the link you gave me. 3 times I have tried now, and all 3 times the .zip file is corrupt, and 3 different sizes, none of which were close to the right size. I think they were closer to half size. they were all reported as being "done downloading" though.

obviously something is wrong on my end with downloading .zip files... ??? or something. I honestly have no idea why this would happen and I'm an IT guy LOL.

I guess I'll try resetting my router tonight.

I've never had trouble downloading anything before and I download .zip files all the time. It has something to do with this specific website and the .zip file and my WiFi.

very strange.

If I happen to find out a solution I'll update with that, but I might just not worry about it.

Thanks.

Maps are very large. Easy to interrupt/corrupt downloads with low bandwidth, satellite, antivirus, or download managers.

Thanks for your reply, however, I download larger zip files than 1GB (like 100's of GB's) pretty often and have no issues with anything else. one of those .zip files was 500GB and it had no issues. its definitely related to this website and my wifi. its almost definitely my wifi somehow I just wish I knew what it was.

off my wifi and everything works fine with the maps.zip file so I'm pretty sure its not the server.

i'm just going to have to install the server when not on my wifi and hope that nothing else is affected by whatever is causing this.

I think you mean GitHub. None of that is stored/served on this website.

Damn, really?
WTF then LOL.
I've downloaded from GitHub plenty of times too!
I think my router is just FUBAR or something

I'll have to hard reset the router and see if that matters.
Maybe before I do that i'll just directly plug into my modem and see if that works.

It's definitely me though.
I just downloaded the maps.zip file through a verizon connection in like 30 minutes, first try, no problems.

I appreciate your replies!!
