Default World Zone connections

Think I figured it out already but wanted to post regardless and get input on it.
While poking my db with a sharp stick I noticed I started to lag really bad and observed 'World_Zone' New TCP connection ....

So sitting here plugging away at things and waiting to see if I get any more of these messages and was curious on the appropriate way to stop this from happening. All the IP's originate from China.

It sounds like your are forwarding port TCP/9000 on your firewall. You shouldn't need to do this.

Clients connect on UDP/9000. The only incoming connections to world on TCP/9000 are from eqlaunch/zone/UCS, and the telnet console which would usually be from your internal LAN and therefore not require port forwarding on your firewall.

I don't think it is related, because I think the issue that caused the problem was fixed quite a while back (out of order packet issue), but here is a thread that might be of some help:

If you see those type of log entries, maybe there is still some type of out of order packet issue. I haven't noticed any since the problem was resolved a year or 2 ago though. Either way, I figured it might be worth mentioning.

Im reading that thread now trevius, have spent a good 10 or 12 hours reading back several years worth of threads across this forum, peq and axclassic.

Pretty sure the issue was just that I had my external IP in the config file and the port open on the router and changing it to localhost and closing the port seems to work.
Slowly making notes about everything I have been doing and all the questions I have been asking various people.
